Q. What are the requirements for the application?

A. For nurses

  • A nursing license in the Philippines; and
  • 3-year work experience as a nurse.

 

For caregivers

There are two ways to become a caregiver in Japan

1. Undergo OJT course* in Japan must have:

  • A 4-year college degree in any major and a certificate of caregiving training in any TESDA-authorized training center in the Philippines; OR
  • A nursing college degree (you don't have to be a licensed nurse or RN).

*OJT course: You will undergo 3-year OJT training in a Japan. After the training, you can take the board exam in Japanese once.

 

2. Study at caregiving school** in Japan must have:

  • A 4-year college degree in any major.

** Caregiving training school course: You will study at caregiving school in Japan for 2 years minimum at your own expense. Even if you fail the board exam, you can work in Japan as a "licensed practical caregiver".

However, the tuition for caregiving school is very high (e.g., $14,521 for the two year program at Hokkaido Caregiving and Welfare School, which is a public school in a province).
